I woke up this morning without an alarm, about an hour earlier than planned. Yesterday I was getting tore up by mosquitoes … but that was nothing compared to the night. I guess a few of these little blood suckers or one REALLY hungry one got in the RV last night. I woke up with the rocky mountain range on my ass … this is absolutely no fun anytime … especially when you have to sit to drive all day. Look for a good treatment … You got one?
Enough about my ass …
On today’s agenda we had four planned stops … I will summarizes them all, patches, NO special issues, NO patch sleeves. With that out of the way let’s move on to the other stuff.
Today was plagued with rain and lightning. This lead to things that I never have seen before, I saw lightning hit a tree and it burst in to flaming debris … I also saw lightning hit a light pole on an overpass as we were two hundred feet from it. The thunder was WAY loud.
We need to get propane today so while we were getting gas I got directions to a place that sold propane. I did not go to it and let me tell you why … the directions included go down this road until you get to the old Johnson barn, make a right and go to the third paved road, just past the Henderson’s place, make a right and then two corn fields down you will find the co-op. I got in the RV and just got back on the freeway.
Another thing that I have never seen before … as we were driving down the interstate there were power lines right in front of us … A HUGE blast of white light was traveling down the power lines. It was just a ball of white light going down the power lines. Not really sure what causes this but it was new to me.
Carl’s Jr. out here is Hardees, that is what I thought since the logo is the same. Well it is the same company but Hardees menu is much more vast. I would have used the drive thru (Diane can attest to the fact that I speak drive thru) but that just does not work in an RV. So we go in and find a different menu then we were expecting, so many more delicious options. A lady that loved her job just a little too much took our order. Later in the day I decided the Hardees was no good when I tasted it on the way backup.
After we placed our order we had the pleasure of hearing the employees’ conversation. Here is where the culture differences of Nebraska and California come in to play. One of the workers told the lady that took our order her parents were getting a cow. Now in my mind I am thinking why would you want a cow? You got to feed it, I am sure they eat a lot … their crap makes a huge mess … etc. Then I was taken back when the employee stated they were going to have a huge BBQ the week her parents get it. Now I know where beef comes from … but I am sheltered from having to look at the animal before it is just meat on a shelf.
After all our stops we made it to Henderson, Nebraska … got some propane and a site for the night. NO cable so the co-pilot is asleep on the couch and I am sitting inside with a view of the pond and the corn fields. I would love to go outside but I just can’t afford to lose anymore blood to those freaking mosquitoes. I am already woozy. I think I will make dinner and finish up this fine evening with a movie.

No, I jacked it from a site … you can click on the picture and it will take you to the site.
Thanks for the mocking :^)
Did you take that picture of the lightning hitting the tree? If you did, I have a job for you and I’d like to be your manager. For the ass-bite, good old rubbing alcohol should do the trick – just rub some on the spot(s) every chance you get (and fight the urge to take a swig). John’s from Nebraska, so I’ll share the cow story with him. His dad owns several — he actually lost one a couple weeks ago, it was hit by lightning!
